This year I’m finally building my Woodfired Pizza Oven.

I was wondering if people had any experiences to share or suppliers (for items like fire brick and tools) to recommend in the Canberra region.

… or you can be very lazy and buy a metal one from the kitchen place at Brand Depot, they’ve had one in the window for months. But it probably wouldn’t be as much fun.

You don’t need fancy pants kiln or oven bricks. Modern bricks aren’t any good either (they have air pockets which may result in explosions)’ but Canberra Reds are great – hard to get but cheaper than kiln bricks, especially if your prepared to clean them yourself (Canberra reds were fired at over 800 degrees and are made of solid clay). You don’t need the sort of temperatures kiln bricks are designed for in a wood fired oven. Good luck.

My personal recommendation is http://diypizzaovensact.com.au/

or you could google woodfired pizza oven canberra and at the top of the list you will find http://www.diypizzaovensact.com.au/

Either way, I’m sure Dave can help you out.

No advice, but good luck. You can’t beat a wood-fired oven for pizza. 🙂

Your best bet is to read up here: http://www.fornobravo.com/forum/

Unfortunately I couldnt find a good source of refactory bricks in Canberra. Sydney would be your closest.

You can get Hebel from bunnings for the base/heath, if you want to go that route
