Need recommendations for a good auto electrician.

Hi all.

My van’s car radio is down to pumping sound out of one of 4 speakers. I need an auto electrician / sound system installer to restore the beauty of sound to me. Any recommendations on the east side, central or Queanbeyan? I understand auto electrics well, but I can’t get under the dash to fiddle with the wires. I’m after some one who can do a good job and won’t waste time. This is obviously less than a 2 hour job, probably only 1 hour.
The people who installed it 4 years ago did half the job, only connecting 2 of the 4 speakers.

Thanks,
Homeless.

I know this old but wanted to update it for others who may search. Got to give a big rap to Lonsdale Auto Electrical having used them for the first time (on the recommendations in this post).

I’ve used them a number of times and it’s so refreshing to deal with people who have a can-do attitude. From a boring old lightbulb change, to finding out what was causing horrific interference in my car stereo (turned out to be worn leads), they are always happy to sort it out for you and it never costs what you feared it might.

They do leave a sticker on your bumper though! You’d think I’d be able to remember their name, seeing the sticker every day.

I wish I could find a mechanic like that…

Had a problem with my cruise control which Nissan (yes, I do have a Nissan!) looked at 4 times and charged me $400 for a new switch for, couldn’t fix. Final diagnosis was there might be a problem with the car’s ECU, a $5 grand replacement.

Took it to LAE who found the problem – a $350 harness needed replacing, they ordered the part yesterday after I gave the OK and kept the car in to fit it today. They’re also fitting a reversing camera for me – another example of the stuff they’ll do. Decent price for their work and whilst I haven’t got the car back yet they are professional, prompt and they fix problems.

+1 for Tom Nipperess.
Extremely prompt (less than 2 hours after the initial call) did a great job plus a couple of other extras that needed doing but weren’t urgent all for a very reasonable rate.
Highly recommended and I found him here so thanks also to RiotACT!

Tom Nipperess – Woden Auto Electrics 0414 488 998 – he comes to you and does a great job.

Hiya,
How come you cannot get under the dash??
I have a range of ppl prolly do it while you have a few beers if I know why you cannot fit under the dash…(is it a dash issue or a you issue?)
I notice alot of your posts refer to Qbn…I am in Qbn and wondering if there are some things here yo may be missing out on.

I second the recommendation for the guy at Kaleen servo. I think his name is Andrew. He’s a nice guy & does good work.

check it at the speaker end first. most times the connector vibrates off the speaker terminal.

I’ve always had great service from the auto electrical mob in Lonsdale St Braddon, up the Haig Park end, they have 2 driveways and are in a sort-of shed behind another building. They seem to tackle anything no matter how trivial or tricky, solve the issue and don’t charge a fortune.

Pretty sure you’re talking about “Lonsdale Auto Electrical.”

Your experience mirrors mine, on a couple of different occasions with different cars. I highly recommend these guys without hesitation.

Not exactly in the area you specified, but can definately recommend the bloke behind the Caltex on Maribynong Ave in Kaleen. He has done a couple of small jobs for me and the charges have been very reasonable.

I used the auto-electrician in Dickson once, next to the Tacky restaurant. Had nothing to do with speakers, but he was great. Fixed my lights for free.

I don’t know if WOW sight and sound will do it or not (not being one of their products), but the installer there did a fantastic job and when one of the wires came loose I went in and he fixed in in about 10 seconds for no charge (had I known a wire was loose I would have done it myself but I didn’t know..). I’d recommend giving them a call
