Tricky Ricky on his way back to Canberra

The ABC has the thrilling news that Ricky Stuart will once again be gracing the nation’s capital giving a whole new generation the possibility of seeing him out on the town.

Ricky Stuart has walked out on Parramatta to take up a three-year contract to coach Canberra.

The 46-year-old told the Eels board of his decision on Wednesday evening having led the club to a second successive wooden spoon with just five wins all season.

For those born after 1985 it used to be a veritable rite of passage in Canberra to at least claim to have seen someone punch Ricky late at night, preferably in the Private Bin.

Quite why the Raiders have gone to such efforts to lure the double wooden spoon coach to their own struggling outfit is a bit of a mystery.

David Furner’s pointless whining about the refs was surely up to standard?

UPDATE: Apparently still hoping to make a big announcement on Friday the Raiders are claiming they’ve just started to negotiate.

I can’t believe they were actually trying to get Neil Henry back as coach. That’s a bit like the Brumbies bringing Laurie Fisher back.

Er, Laurie Fisher is the current forwards coach at the Brumbies and since they made the Super Rugby final this year, must be doing a half decent job.

Good to see the Raiders keeping the moral high ground about people breaking contracts…

This article touches on the reason the Raiders have such a terrible track record with culture, particularly this year. Dunneman has gone on record saying the culture at the club is bad and needs fixing. Look where that got him.
Old Boys Club.
This stinks and is a perfect example of how the OBC will look after their own before anything else. McKay is involved, look at ACTEW.
The cleaners need to go through the board starting with Don Furner. I propose a board made up of at least half true fans. Not company people, fans that have been season ticket holders for the past at least 10 years. Fans that have pumped thousands of their hard earned dollars into supporting their local team.
Raiders – get serious. The fans have had about enough disrespect from Executive right through to player.

His coaching record is truly ordinary. I hope the Raiders got him for free!

I can’t believe the reported short list. Look outside the lime green bubble folks!
