Jon Stanhope has taken some joy in announcing that as soon as he’s done offering condolences to the city Mumbai tomorrow (No, I’m really not making this up) he’s going to be pushing through a helping hand to the RSPCA.
- “”The RSPCA ACT is facing financial stress driven by a combination of growing demand as families experiencing financial hardship surrender their pets, a dramatic increase in welfare cases, where the organisation helps pets remain with families who are experiencing financial difficulties, wage pressures, inflation, stock market impacts on bequests, and a decline in donations from the community,” MrStanhope said.
“The ACT Government is determined to ensure that the RSPCA ACT is not forced to either sack staff or cut back on its important services to the Canberra community.
“The $100,000 rescue package – a promise Labor took to the election – will deliver some immediate financial help to this local organisation, which does so much to help others,” Mr Stanhope said.”
