Somehow my Order of Australia gong got lost in the process this year, as did most of yours.

But Chief Minister Gallagher is letting you all know about the ones who have been favoured:

Some notable Canberrans were awarded the Member of the Order of Australia (AM), including Christine Macauley for her dedicated service to the local business community; Tony Hedley for his contribution to business through the ACT Property Council and his involvement with the Canberra Symphony Orchestra; and Glenn Rees for his work in community health, particularly aged care, Alzheimer’s disease and dementia.

The Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) was awarded to a number of Canberrans, including Elizabeth Dawson for her tireless work in providing assistance to homeless individuals and families; Russell Brown for his work in local theatre, including as Master of Ceremonies for Canberra Repertory’s Old Time Music Hall for over 30 years; and Petronella Wensing for service to local lace making and her volunteering work. Detective Superintendent Brett McCann from ACT Policing received the Australian Police Medal.

Congratulations to all now in possession of the world’s most awesome neck decoration!
