A 43-year-old Monash woman has been charged with multiple traffic offences after her vehicle, with two children inside, crashed into her garage yesterday afternoon (Wednesday, September 4).
The incident was reported around 3pm and Tuggeranong Patrol members, together with ACT Fire and Rescue, immediately responded.On arrival police observed a black sedan that was in the driveway with damage to the front end and the drivers and passenger’s side airbags deployed. The driver and two children did not suffer any injuries.
The alleged offender, who is a current disqualified driver, was taken into custody and conveyed to the Tuggeranong Police Station.
The woman refused to provide a sample of breath for analysis and was then issued with an Immediate Suspension Notice. She was arrested and conveyed to the ACT Watch House and will appear before the ACT Magistrates Court on September 17 charged with drink driving, refusing to provide sample of breath and driving while disqualified.
The house sustained substantial damage to the front garage wall and door requiring ACT Fire and Rescue personnel to provide structural support.
Meanwhile, forty-four people were caught drink-driving on ACT roads last weekend (August 29 – 1 September), with 15 of those drivers being repeat offenders.
Eighteen drivers were issued with Immediate Suspension Notices with three drivers recording BAC levels almost four times over the limit.
