The August 2013 Belconnen Community Council Public Forum will be held at:

7.30pm, Tuesday 15 October 2013
Community Room above the Chandler Street Belconnen Library

This will be the last opportunity to qualify for the election of committee members at the AGM to be held on 19 November. To be eligible to nominate or vote for positions on the committee, a member must have attended at least three meetings in the previous twelve months.

Purdon Associates will present a proposal to consolidate two small blocks in the Belconnen Town Centre and to demolish the existing buildings for the purpose of building a 160-room hotel with conference facilities and onsite parking. The land, totalling 1,530 square metres, is beside the Labor Club and bounded by Chandler Street, Cameron Avenue and Edmondstone Place.

This will be a Pre-DA community consultation which is mandatory for larger-scale development proposals before a development application can be lodged. This is an opportunity for the community to voice its preferences before the proposal is finalised.

The presentation will be followed by a community forum on parking in the town centre. Details of this and a parking survey can be found on our Facebook page.
