Thank you to all the serious responses. I will certainly look into all of your suggestions as it has given me some more ideas, so thank you. 🙂

For the other comments (people still actually get married? isn’t is 2014?…marriage isn’t forever anymore… etc), marriage might not be for you, and you don’t know the dynamics of my relationship with my partner. So what was the point of your pointless comments? I’m only interested in positive comments that are in regards to planning my big beautiful day which my partner and myself are looking forward to. But thank you for sharing your opinions as I didn’t realise that so many people thought this way.

Tuggeranong Homestead has a lovely outdoor area with tables, however I doubt you would be able to bring your own food as they rely on the catering/cafe income. In a similar vein, Rose Cottage just off the Monaro Highway is lovely.

Why ruin a perfectly good relationship by getting married?

I have been to two weddings in the garden at the Barton side of Parliament House which was free to book. I’m not sure how you go for food and drink there though as both occasions were only for the ceremony. OPH rose gardens are beautiful.

The House of Reps Gardens at OPH are beautiful! For a $500 refundable deposit, you can access the kiosk which has a neat little kitchen and access to power outlets. I also hired out the hall at Corroboree Park for my mother’s 70th birthday 4 years ago, it has a kitchen, toilets, the hall, we had alocohol and got a spit roast mob to come in, it was a great day (just have to chase away nosey parkers trying to gate crash/use the toilets).

I was going to suggest OP Rose gardens too (the ones to the side), or Lennox Gardens. There’s also Aspen Island. They all have public toilets in reasonable proximity.

Maybe Lanyon Homestead. You could also try the Hyatt, though I suspect you won’t be able to cater it yourself.

Another thought is the Southern Cross Yacht Club.
