Zed Sesleja Discovers the Time Travelling Busway

Zed Seselja has put out a media release on the amazing travel time claims being made by the Government about their Belconnen-Civic Busway.

This is interesting because Kerces was making a similar point back in December.

Has Zed only just cottoned on? Or was he saving his gold? (in which case why use it now?) In any event “Zed Seselja leader” is turning up in our referrers logs.

For those who came in late, the issue is that the current scheduled trip time is 17 minutes. The Government is claiming the proposed $150 million busway will cut 15 minutes from the travel time. Providing for a 2 minute trip over the roughly 10km route.

10km in 2 minutes would require an AVERAGE speed of 300km/h. One can only imagine the acceleration and peak speeds required. Good luck to any bicycles racked to the front of these suckers.

Of course the scheduled time was conservative. how Simon Corbell plans to cut 15 minutes from the travel time of people who regularly make the trip in 14 minutes remains an object of some fascination to many of us.

Zed has consistently said that the busway cannot save that much time on a trip from Belconnen to Civic – this led Simon to change what he said about the time savings ( flip, flop, backdown.)

Perhaps the move towards bi-location is about Simons Star Trek fetish – Beam me up, ACTION?

Those that refuse get placed on the bike rack

Does this mean that all passengers will be required to wear a g-suit and a five point harness when travelling intertown now?

Wow! That must be the plusses of busses!

Anyway, the older buses have a “maximum” speed of 83 km/h and the newer ones are speed limited to 85 km/h, the older ones can do a wee bit more than the “maximum” when pushed, but they certainly can’t do 300km/h (or are the flying buses proposed in the last election still coming? somebody said buses should be immune to traffic lights, that must mean they can fly.)
