Check out Canberra’s newest suburb, Moncrieff, between 10am and 4pm tomorrow (Saturday) at the Master Builders Association’s Display Village open day.

The event is a collaboration between Master Builders ACT and the Land Development Agency.

Moncrieff borders Ngunnawal, Amaroo and Jacka, as well as the future suburb of Taylor. It’s 4km from the Gungahlin Town Centre and 16km from the centre of Canberra.

There will be a dozen different homes open tomorrow, each built by a different building company, either Rawson Homes, McDonald Jones Homes, Gracious Living Constructions, Sekisui House Australia, MBS Housing, G.J. Gardner Homes Australia, Achieve Homes, J&F Homes, Renaissance Building & Design Pty Ltd, RAM Constructions, APA Homes or Elevated Living.

The mix of single and double storey homes include state-of-the-art design, smart technology and clever ideas to suit all budgets and tastes, according to the organisers, who say the display will also demonstrate innovation in design, sustainability initiatives and provide examples of liveable housing standards.

There will be a jumping castle, face painting, balloon twisting, a sausage sizzle and a coffee and ice-cream van.

Mix 106.3 will be broadcasting from the village and ACT Minister for Transport and Municipal Services, Minister for Higher Education, Training and Research and Assistant Health Minister Meegan Fitzharris will officially open the village at 11.30am. Ms Fitzharris is the only Gungahlin resident in the ACT Legislative Assembly.
