ACT Policing arrested a 25-year-old Kambah man overnight for multiple offences after the vehicle he was driving allegedly had collided with a garbage skip outside an apartment complex in Aspinall Street, Watson.
Police were called to the location around 8.40pm last night (Tuesday, August 3) after receiving a report of the collision involving a silver Ford utility.
When police arrived, the driver of the vehicle was seen to be arguing and abusing witnesses.
The man’s attention then turned to police where he was abusive and aggressive towards the two attending officers. He was restrained and placed under arrest, when it will be alleged that he refused to provide a breath sample for the roadside screening, and spat on one of the constables.
The vehicle he had been driving had been reported stolen from a burglary in Kambah over the weekend.
The man will face the ACT Magistrates Court today charged with driving a motor vehicle without consent, negligent driving, being an unlicensed driver, and causing harm to a Commonwealth public official.
