The heritage-themed strip was worn for the first time by Canberra Vikings in 2017 when they defeated Queensland Country. Vikings wore the jerseys again in round 1 2018 against Queensland Country but unfortunately narrowly lost the game.
This year, the Vikings again chose the strip for the opening round of the National Rugby Championship. The jerseys are now being auctioned off through ALLBIDS. 100 per cent of all proceeds raised from the auction will go to Marymead to help build new care cottages, providing hope and change for kids and families in times of crisis.
Every jumper from that first game is being auctioned off including jerseys worn by five Wallabies in the Vikings team -Tom Banks, Joe Powell, Folau Faainga’a, Blake Enever and Rory Arnold.
Marymead is the Canberra Vikings’ 2018 charity partner, offering family support services to children, young people and their families. The charity also offers person-centred support services for people with a disability and their families and has a long record in the Canberra community of providing care at times of crisis and backing that up with ongoing support.
To bid for the jerseys, simply log on to ALLBIDS. The auction closes on the 9th of December.
