Today I was on a PD (professional development) at the Legislative Assembly.
I learnt more about our electoral system and even sat in the Speaker’s chair – I was on a power trip.
We then got to ask questions of Mr. Barr, Mrs. Dunne and Deb Foskey’s rep, Roland. They bantered about like old friends but the school closures did come up, as an example of how the legislative process works.
It was interesting that when asked for questions, each teacher looked around and smiled but then asked general questions. I bit my tongue – see reason why below. I know, from speaking to them during lunch, that all the teachers there would have loved to ask a few things…particularly the Govt teachers.
Whilst tempted to go Mr. Barr re: school closures, I was representing my school and didn’t feel that it would be right to interrogate Mr. Barr when doing so.
(Damn I wish I had of been a private citizen at the time.)
Still it was a great learning experience and the staff at the Legislative Assembly were excellent.
I just hope Mr. Barr gets back to Kerces with his e-mail interview sooner rather than later 🙂
