Police have found bullets lodged into three homes in a suburban street in Canberra’s south after a reckless shooting attack on Saturday night (2 March), as police launch a manhunt for the gunman responsible.
Police are calling for witnesses to the incident on Freda Gibson Circuit in Theodore just before 10 pm, which left one man in hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg.
Detective Acting Superintendent Matthew Reynolds said seven shots were fired from what they believe was a rifle and it was by pure luck no innocent people were killed.
Police do not know the motive behind the attack but believe it was targeted.
Detective Acting Superintendent Reynolds said the victim is known to police and is cooperating with police. He said all available resources were being allocated to the case and are now calling for more witnesses to come forward.

“We have a number of witnesses to the incident and we have spoken to all of those people,” he said. “We have some leads in relation to who the offender is and we are actively seeking that person.”
Detective Acting Superintendent Reynolds said there was no evidence to suggest it was a bikie gang attack but the links between those involved as well as the motivation behind the incident are “actively being investigated”.
“We do not believe those three houses were targeted. We believe it was a result of a male person shooting a firearm indiscriminately down the street,” he said. “It is pure luck that innocent people were not harmed or killed as a result of this reckless act.
“We know there are people who have information about this event who have not spoken to police. We are urging you to come forward.”
