Firefighters from the ACT Rural Fire Service and ACT Parks and Conservation Service will head straight to the frontline to assist Queensland Fire and Emergency Services with several fires burning across the state.
The deployment of 28 firefighters will assist with more than 70 bushfires in Queensland.
There are already widespread reports of residents being evacuated, along with serious damage to properties and threats to wildlife.
Crews will travel to Rockhampton and Warwick on Thursday, 12 September.
The crews will undertake firefighting operations for five days before returning home on Wednesday, 18 September.
The ACT Emergency Services Agency has also deployed a Fire Behaviour Analyst to Caloundra in Queensland and a Public Information Officer to support the NSW Rural Fire Service.
Both deployments will not impact on the level of fire protection to Canberra and the surrounding regions.
“We wish our departing crews safe travels and thank them for their commitment and support,” an ACT Emergency Services Agency spokesperson said.
