1. Idiot:
ACT Policing’s Specialist Response and Security (SRS) officers, with the assistance of ACT Policing Operations, have rescued a man and his three children after their kayak upturned on the Murrumbidgee River today (December 5).
Around 5.24pm police received a phone call from the man claiming to be lost in Namadgi National Park after the watercraft his family were in upturned. The man aged 41 from NSW and his three children aged 14, 11 and 8 were reported to be uninjured in the incident but were unaware of their whereabouts and were soaking wet with no food or water.
SRS Tactical Response officers attended the area north of Angle Crossing and around 7.30pm the man and his three children were found safe and well.
Following the recent heavy rain Detective Superintendent Brett McCann urged the public to avoid all flooding water areas.
“Fast-flowing river areas are extremely dangerous as there is the likelihood of getting into difficulty. Incidents such as today’s rescue highlight the risk put to those involved including emergency personal and are an unnecessary expense to the community,” Detective Superintendent McCann said.

2. Dickson break-in:
Over $50,000 worth of mechanical equipment was stolen over the weekend from C&S Automatic Transmission Centre in Woolley Street, Dickson.
ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to the burglary which occurred sometime between midday on Saturday, December 4, and 8am this morning (Monday, December 6).
The property stolen included a black Autologic diagnostic scanner; two red tool chests containing Kincrome and Sidchrome spanners; various transmission gear; pressure gauges; and three re-conditioned gear boxes; with an approximate value of $53,000 in total.
The gearboxes are approximately 40-50 kg and would require at least two people to carry them. Police believe a vehicle and at least two people were involved in the burglary.
Police are seeking anyone who may know the identity of the offender/s or who may have seen suspicious activity around the C&S Automatic Transmission Centre over the weekend to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers website on www.act.crimestoppers.com.au.
