ACT Policing has seized a shotgun and drugs following three search warrants as part of an ongoing investigation into a Canberra drug syndicate.
At around 5:00 am this morning (1 November), ACT Policing, alongside Australian Border Force and WorkSafe ACT, executed three simultaneous search warrants in Flynn, Holt and Fyshwick.
Police seized a shotgun, two tasers, ammunition and $7020 cash, a small vial of medical adrenaline, and a small amount of cocaine and methamphetamine in the Flynn residence. A 46-year old man will be summonsed to face court for possession of a firearm, ammunition and prohibited weapons.
At a Holt house, police found two jars with 70 millilitres of gamma-Butyrolactone with an estimated street value of $7,000. A 36-year-old woman will be summonsed for possessing a trafficable quantity of gamma-Butyrolactone.
Police also seized one gram of methamphetamine and 0.5 grams of heroin at a Fyshwick business.
A further two people were arrested for outstanding warrants at Holt and Fyshwick and appeared before the ACT Magistrates Court today.
Detective Superintendent Mick Calatzis said any drugs off the street is a win for ACT Policing.
“Fundamentally, our job is to detect, apprehend and disrupt,” he said. “It is not about the value of the drugs that is important, it is about keeping them off the street and about the safety of the community.”
Detective Superintendent Calatzis said the search warrants were executed after information from the public.
“Police can’t do anything alone and we require the public’s cooperation,” he said. “We are now asking for further information in relation to this ongoing investigation. The main thing is that we have taken drugs off the streets, we have taken firearms off the street and we have arrested two people.”
