Nestled at the top of City Walk Tasty Time is an asian eatery without pretence.
Food is whipped from display fridges into the microwave and into customers hands in a way that is, to the newcomer, slightly alarming.
It’s not that other restaurants don’t do much the same thing, it’s just normally they don’t make the sausage right in front of you.
But they’re fast, and you have to admire their honesty.
A reader had recommended their beef laksa so yesterday I headed in.
Sadly they were out of the beef, instead I opted for the BBQ pork.
You have to choose what sort of noodle you want, I asked the smiling girl what she’d have and she decided the hokkien noodles were the best bet.
Any laksa is really just a collection of ingredients with a coconut milk curry soup poured over the top.
Tasty Time aspire to be a thai style laksa and for mine I prefer the dish with more curry in the soup.
This laksa won’t make you sweat, for better or worse.
But for $9 it’s undoubtedly tasty, quick, and comes in a cool bowl.
