Live In Ya Lounge is wrapping up this week, calling time on the series that has kept the city’s musical heart pumping through the depths of social distancing. They’re going out with a bang with the stacked Live In Ya Local show featuring Sputnik Sweetheart, AYA YVES and world-conquering post-hardcore heroes Hands Like Houses.
If you weren’t lucky enough to snag tickets to the sold-out in-person event at EPIC on Saturday night, you can tune in to the live stream from home or head to the Old Canberra Inn for the official viewing party.
Dozens of Canberra acts have graced the decked-out Live In Ya Lounge stage over the past few months to the point that a change.org petition has been circulating calling for this non-government-funded series to continue.
Emerging jazz vocalists Sophie Edwards and Isaac Said are taking over Hippo Co on Wednesday night, making for the perfect combo of whiskey, music and wintery Canberra atmosphere. Across the city on Friday night, singer-songwriters Lucy Sugerman and Albert & Maria will be performing intimate sets at Blackbird.
Canberra Theatre Centre is also continuing their live music resurgence this week with Michael Simic taking on crooners from throughout music history in a once-off appearance in the theatre’s Link Bar.
