Katy Gallagher brings us the joyful news that the Women’s Information and Referral Centre has just released its latest “biannual Community Calendar for Women”.
“WIRC has been producing this free resource since 1988 and it is always eagerly awaited by women in Canberra,†said Ms Gallagher. Well, those who knew it existed anyway.
The calendar apparently contains useful information about “courses, support groups, information sessions, training and workshops that are conducted by government and community services in the Canberra region”. Ms Gallagher says it is mostly used by service providers, GPs, counsellors and “individuals”.
While I’m sure it is a most useful thing, it is a pity that the period covered by the calendar — January to June — is almost one-third over now (having downloaded the calendar to have a look at it, I would say it is actually more of a handbook or guide to what’s on during this period, and perhaps the name should be changed to avoid confusion).
If you are interested in the calendar, you can download a copy from the WIRC website or pick one up from their office at 13 London Circuit.
