Two close contacts from Brisbane COVID-19 exposure sites and a further 11 casual contacts have been identified by ACT Health.
Brisbane will be plunged into a three-day lockdown from this afternoon (29 March) after four cases of community transmission were recorded.
The announcement has thrown uncertainty around upcoming Easter travel plans, especially with the Federal Government’s subsidised flights due to begin on 1 April.
The cheap flights included half a dozen locations across Queensland.
ACT Health has advised potential travellers to keep up to date with the situation in Queensland and prepare to change travel plans at short notice.
Anyone in the ACT who has been in the Brisbane City Council or Moreton Bay Regional Council areas of Greater Brisbane anytime from 11 March 2021 needs to get tested for COVID-19 and isolate until they have a negative result under the new health direction.
It does not include people who have only transited through the Brisbane Airport.
People who have been to an exposure site must get tested and self-isolate for 14 days.
More than 800 people have completed the online declaration form since the new health direction came into force yesterday (28 March). ACT Health has also contacted more than 5000 people who have arrived in the ACT.
Meanwhile, the ACT’s last positive case left hotel quarantine on Sunday after recovering from the virus, bringing the ACT back to being COVID-19 free.
The person was the last of five positive cases that arose from the ACT’s most recent repatriation flight which arrived from Singapore on 1 March.
