The ACT has recorded one more COVID-19-related death and another 904 new cases overnight as Australia passes the second anniversary of the pandemic.
A woman in her 80s has died overnight, and ACT Health has extended its condolences to her families and friends.
The additional deaths take the pandemic’s local death toll to 25.
There are now 67 people in hospital, including three in intensive care and one requiring ventilation.
Yesterday, there were 68 patients in the hospital, including three in ICU and one being ventilated.
There were 756 cases recorded yesterday. The latest case numbers come from 546 positive PCR results and 358 rapid antigen tests, taking the number of active cases in the ACT to 4829 (1935 PCR and 2894 RAT).
The arrangements for ACT Government testing clinics remain the same as yesterday:
- Holt (8 am to 4 pm – PCR for all ages)
- Nicholls (8 am to 4 pm – PCR for all ages)
- Kambah (8 am to 4 pm – PCR for ages 5-plus)
- Garran (7 am to 9 pm – PCR tests for all ages, and RATs for people aged 2-plus), and
- Mitchell (1:30 pm to 9 pm – PCR tests for people aged 5-plus and RATs for people aged 2-plus).
ACT Health said turnaround times for results are now between 24 and 48 hours.
The ACT’s 12-plus vaccination rate remains constant at 98.6 per cent.
Over 40 per cent of those aged 18 and over have now received a booster shot (41.1 per cent), while over half (54.6 per cent) of the population aged five to 11 have received one dose.
Today marks the second anniversary of Australia’s first COVID-19 case, but the Federal Government says Omicron has now reached its peak nationwide.
The country has recorded around 2 million cases and over 3000 deaths.
Interstate, NSW has reported 29 deaths overnight and 18,512 new cases (9090 RATs, 9422 PCR).
Hospitalisations have increased slightly to 2943 from 2816 the previous day. There are 183 people in ICUs around the state.
NSW Health says 33.8 per cent of the state’s eligible population has received a booster dose, and 93.9 per cent of the 16-plus population has received two shots.
NSW has also extended its current COVID-19 restrictions until the end of February so hospitality venues must follow the one person per two square metre rule, masks are mandatory, and singing and dancing are not permitted in hospitality venues.
In Victoria, 14,836 (8539 RATs and 6297 PCR) new cases have been reported, as well as 29 deaths.
Hospitalisations have increased slightly to 1057 from 998 the previous day.
Of the state’s 12-plus population, 93 per cent is now fully vaccinated and 32 per cent of the state’s 18-plus population has received three doses of the vaccine.
