This looks like a fantastic event – it’s wonderful that something’s happening! 350.org is such a good organisation to support, it’s nice to see that Canberra is getting involved. I will definitely be there to shake my ACT! 😀

As for the movement itself, I agree with the first comment, there really is little to go on as to what is they are wanting from this?

Change may be necessary, but knee jerk reactions have seen us take to such things as energy saver bulbs (mmm…Mercury) and E10 fuel, which are great ways for the corporate world to look like they are doing something, while they are really just making more from doing sweet nothing.

Think about what you want to achieve, and do some real research into what alternative are best, and most effectives, rather than just yelling for change NOW, how about we ask for change that might take a little longer, but be more thought through, and achieve greater long term effect.

Look at E10, other parts of the world are successfully implementing hydrogen fuel cell cars, and have invested in the appropriate infrastructure, there are also a number of cars in this market, as well as hydrogen combustion vehicles (I think BMW prefer this method) but here, instead of investing in the infrastructure needed, we go for the el-cheepo route, and uptake E10, which is 90% fossil, and 10% car solvent (YAY, I can F&^K up the earth, and my car at the same time!)

Even if you don’t think we need change, it’s a step lower still to go for useless change!

Nah, the good thing about being right is that you can let the loonies shout as much as they want but they’ll fail.

The most recent Galaxy poll shows that 61% of Aussies oppose the carbon tax, “action on climate change” and the “clean energy future”.

These people can ride their bikes, sip their lattes, hold hands, call the silent majority “loonies” and have themselves on as much as they want it won’t change anything.

Within a year Tony will be PM and all this “climate change” crap will be consigned to the trashcan of history.

Nah, the good thing about being right is that you can let the loonies shout as much as they want but they’ll fail.

Though you did use a lot of bold font, I don’t quite understand what you’re promoting here. I see you want to move on from fossil fuels and have fun doing it, but I’d argue most people on the planet would want that as well. How are you suggesting we do that? I foresee a loud, misguided group of ANU arts students with no tests this week drinking goon on the APH lawns.
