Charles Dickens’s A Christmas Carol

The Nightmare Before Christmas

Come along to the Sunset Cinema this Friday evening for a movie under the stars. Screening as the sun goes down is Tim Burton’s classic, The Nightmare Before Christmas. It tells the story of Jack Skellington, Halloweentown’s beloved pumpkin king, who has become bored with the same annual routine of frightening people in the “real world.”
When Jack accidentally stumbles on Christmastown, all bright colours and warm spirits, he gets a new lease on life – he plots to bring Christmas under his control by kidnapping Santa Claus and taking over the role. But Jack soon discovers that even the best-laid plans of mice and skeletons can go awry.

The Little Burley Christmas Market

Where: Queen Elizabeth Terrace, Parkes

If you’re near the lake this Christmas Eve, take some time to visit the festive and fun Little Burley Christmas Market.
Expect lots of non-stop entertainment, visits from Santa, craft-making activities plus plenty of hand-made and locally sourced gifts to treat your elf and loved ones this Christmas.
North Pole Lane Christmas Eve
When: Saturday 24 December, 9:30 am to 3:30 pm
Where: South.Point Tuggeranong, Greenway

If you’re looking for something fun to do with the family this weekend, then look no further than North Pole Lane in Tuggeranong. It’s a walk-through display where you can walk through a snowy forest, visit Santa and all his friends and grab some photos with them too. There will also be life-size reindeer being fed and an opportunity for kids to write a letter to Santa.
Monica Moore – The Canberra Wine House
When: Saturday 24 December, 6 pm to 9 pm
Where: 2 Badham Street, Dickson

Taking place this Christmas Eve is a special free live performance by the First Nations singer/songwriter Monica Moore. She will bring her blues tunes to The Canberra Wine House while showcasing original tracks from her EP.
This is the perfect opportunity for you to grab a glass of wine, enjoy some food and listen to some great music.
DRAWN IN with Bella Groove

The Canberra jazz band Bella Groove is performing next Wednesday at the National Portrait Gallery and you’re invited.
Make it a fun day out, explore some great displays and exhibits and listen to an assortment of jazz and blues from Elise Walsh on vocals and flute and Matt Lustri on guitar and vocals.
