I agree with Spitfire3. I’d be waiting outside the prison gates on discharge day.

If the loved one who was killed in this episode had been mine, 20-year-old Jonathan Kennewell of Spence would be receiving a much harsher penalty from me than two and a half years prison.

Loadedog, was writing under the influence of lack of time. which in it’s own special way is far, far more dangerous. but much harder to test for.

As for running websites, the road rules and the way they function are not a model for a civil society. They’re a product of neccessity when everyone gets to play with a tonne of metal at 100kph.

And so he should get a full time stint. People try to pull anything so that they don’t have to take responsibility for thier own actions. Oh dear the alcohol made me do it – stuff him, he chose to drink and then chose to drive.

I think you might have had a bit to dirnk, a bit to dirnk yourself when you wrote this one John. Is there any penalty for operating a web site under the influence of alcohol?

I heard a story recently about a local man whose plea of guilty for a dui was rejected by the magistrate because there is a legal/technical problem with the breath analysers in use at the moment. Anyone heard more?

I know someone who’s up for a court appearance soon after getting pulled over with ~0.08, and he’s seriously intending to argue that he should be let off because his medication counteracts the alcohol. Might be an idea to send him this story…
