when is canberra best?

I like the Summer time myself.

Could do with being just a *tad* warmer though.

I cant believe so many people like Canberra winters. I hate it. Everything is cold, the trees are bare and when the fog comes it looks just like a sea of grey. Yuck Yuck Yuck. I think visually, Autumn is the best time in Canberra; just before the leaves fall, when the trees come alive with colour and the air balloons are seen in the sky. Bring on spring and summer I am OVER the dreary grey winter.

she’s right, they are, and we should. mick gentleman has a bill to mandate the rate at a premium if you feed back into the grid, rather than the measly minute off-peak rate they pay now. this would also make installation a lot more attractive – that and a gov’t with the balls to get serious on this and spend a fraction of its ridiculous surplus on getting panels in as many locations – private and public – as it can.

i understood krudd to talk up labor’s commitment to these issues – now they’re in they do sfa…

Speaking of sunny days, it’d sure make sense if more of us were able to install solar panels, and become a big power-generation site. Cheryl Kernow on Q and A the other night reckoned they were doing this in Germany (which is not very sunny) and were feeding significant kws back into the grid.

Gotta love the individual seasons in Canberra – and considering we are the Aussie city that gets more sunny days each year than any other city, unreal!

I’m a vote for Autumn. Great temp, great colours and no hayfever.

Spring is the best, it’s really something. Autumn second, winter third, and summer a definite last.

Summernats time. Lots of Boobie Birds to be seen. After 3 short days they fly back home.

I can’t pick either. Have you seen the amazing sunsets we’re having lately? I think I’ve seen about every shade of pink and orange there is. I’m looking forward to mid winter when the grass is white with frost in the morning and crunches when you walk on it. The air is fresh and freezing, but still. Or the foggy mornings where you can’t see more than a couple of feet in front of you, and crossing the road becomes a challenge because the fog dampens the sound of the cars and you have to hope that they have their headlights on so you can see them before you get smushed.

I love autumn too, with the changing leaves. Spring with the trees in blossom. Summer with the long evenings spent outside with bbq and a beer (or two). All gold, would not swap it for anything.

Cant pick. I love those scorching hot summer days, with screaming cicadas and heat haze. The halcyon “indian summer” of Autumn – t-shirts through the day and cool nights with golden trees, icy cold mornings under the mantle of an azure sky – oth thick fog that dosn’t lift until after lunch and spring – with the cherry blossoms through the older suburbs and a maggie pecking at the back of your head as you try to ride around the lake …
