ACT Policing seek witnesses to early-morning alleged assault in Civic

ACT Policing is calling for any witnesses to an alleged early-morning assault in Civic to come forward.

Police say that at about 12:30 am on Sunday (14 July), a man was walking along Bible Lane in the direction of City Walk when a group of men assaulted him.

The man, who sustained multiple injuries during the alleged assault, was able to contact police and report the incident a short time later.

Following inquiries, police were able to identify two men believed to have been involved in the alleged assault – an 18-year-old man from Banks and a 19-year-old man from Monash.

The men were arrested last night (18 July) following the execution of search warrants at their residences. They have each been charged with one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and will appear in court next month.

Police are still seeking to identify the other men involved in the alleged assault and would like to speak to anyone who may be able to identify them, as well as anyone who witnessed the incident.

The appeal follows the launch of ACT Policing’s City Safe campaign in Civic and Braddon, targeting criminal and anti-social behaviour.
