Police are investigating after a driver allegedly lost control of their ute during a burnout and crashed into a parked vehicle in Civic.
The incident took place during this month’s Summernats 37 weekend, near the car enthusiast festival in Braddon.
A silver Ford Falcon ute was driving south on Mort Street before it turned onto Bunda Street in Civic at about 9:40 pm on 2 January 2025, an ACT Policing spokesperson said.
The spokesperson alleged the ute’s driver started performing a burnout, losing traction of its front wheels.
When it gained traction, it allegedly accelerated and hit a parked grey Ford Falcon.
“The grey Ford Falcon sustained significant panel damage as a result of the collision; however, the driver of the silver Ford drove off immediately without stopping to exchange details,” the police spokesperson said.
Police want to identify the registration of the silver ute and speak to its driver.
