As 30+ ACT Government media releases spewed into the Inbox yesterday and the day before, it seemed the ALP’s was really ramping up the campaign – perhaps in an attempt to match the taxpayer-funded TV and print campaigns they are undertaking at present to inform us of their brilliance on office.
There was an air of familiarity about many of the releases – that other most-cherished campaigning tactic of re-releasing initiatives seemed to be getting a serious look in.
But on closer inspection, many of the releases were actually dated in March. Back in March, the ACT Government’s media release email system seemed to go on strike, and nothing came out for a couple of weeks. Well it has all caught up now! All those missing releases dumped on us in one bunch to rival the Budget Media Release assault.
Had they been electronically circling in cyberspace for months (that’d be a lot of laps)? Last night came the explanation:
- “Dear subscriber
A problem with a former website hosting service provider’s equipment caused old government media releases to be re-issued over the past few days.
We have asked the former supplier to correct the problem immediately.
The ACT Government apologises for any inconvenience caused.”
