With even the most staunch “it’s too early” objector having to can it come the weekend because its December, it’s time to start the thread for 2012.

I have a nearly two year old now, that’s a good enough excuse for me to get out and go look at other people’s lights without needing to kidnap a nephew or niece for alibi purposes.

When you see the good ones, post ’em here.

Just went for a tour around Canberra. The two big ones in Kambah are nice but lots of traffic around them.

Best suburb would be Forde IMO.

Theres a whole bunch in the “new” part of Gordon. Dont know the addreses but you cant miss them.

Sharing a handy Map Link and the text listage powers of Local Radio.

Merry Christmas all.

Ditto for Mothy’s recommendations. Also Amagula Ave, Ngunnawal is well worth a visit (make sure you get out and walk around the balcony).

Ningaloo in Harrison was spectacular, thanks for the pointer.

Other highlights of the north:

Corner of Leslie Dwyer Street and Horneville St in Forde.

And for the getting the neighbors involved effort, the four houses at the corner of Amy Ackman St and Helen Leonard Crescent.

Well done all.

Thanks – Harrison, then Buckingham in Amaroo. There’s the path home from the lighting of the tree tonight sorted.

Am lucky enough to recommend 76 Buckingham Street, Amaroo. Don’t be shy….they love visitors.

Great lets drive around the burbs park on pork hunts lawns block traffic ect very Canberra

I checked out Ningaloo Street in Harrison this evening. Very impressive.

I drove past today and the set up is currently surrounded by temporary fencing, so obviously not up and running yet. Perhaps it will start up this weekend? A few neighbouring houses set up some pretty good displays each year too.

The temporary fencing is apart of the display, plus I think it is used to keep people from sneaking through the bushes.
By the way cheers came the lights were turned on at 20:30 tonight. So I have a month of cars driving past & this year the street isn’t being turned into a one way street.

So with a house in the street being used as a film set (by the same mob closing off streets around the Tuggeranong Valley lately-so to a “Fyshwick” film) & the lights Bissenberger Crescent is a busy little street.

A shameless plug for my website christmaslightsau.com/map/ACT. I aim to start heading around with my camera on the south side soon to see if I can get some better photos and check who’s doing it again.

The house on Bissenberger Crescent in Kambah is very impressive – they have a real life Santa who makes appearances on his ‘throne’ for photos. As well as the lights you can view from the street, they have a walk through area in their garden displaying train sets and moving bits and pieces.
