Sometimes we get a media release that leaves us speechless.
Canberra CBD are making known their arrangements to reduce the Civic’s yellow rivers of a late night.
A urinal trial in late-night city hot spots will begin tonight (Thursday 14 March) to gain data on the issue of public and illegal urination.
An initiative of Canberra CBD Limited (CCBD), the trial will run from Thursday night to Monday morning over the next three weeks, with the urinals put in place after 7pm and removed by 7am.
CCBD’s new Chief Executive Officer, Jane Easthope, said the trial would provide a useful insight.
“Canberra CBD is focussed on providing a clean and safe city for the broader Canberra community,” Easthope said. “This urinal trial is not a permanent solution, rather a trial to provide data for decision making purposes.
“There is a large level of poor behaviour that occurs during the early hours of the mornings, leaving business owners and city occupants dismayed.
“We hope that an initiative such as this urinal trial will go some way into creating a positive change and we encourage men to make use of the facilities.”
