Winter is here, and while cold in the morning its still warm and very dry.
Nik get some faring and you will be doing much better.
Last year I went out and bought some heated hand grips for the bike. As someone who uses the bike rain, hail or shine I definately rate them.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind winter here, as long as it is like today.
its those overcast, miserable, drizzly days when there’s a gale blowing from the south that I can’t stand.
Then again, drizzle would be quite welcome at the moment. Just look at Big Merinoville II about an hours drive north where they are going to run out of water by Christmas.
I like winter here … its mild. You want to try being a trainer in Cabramurra in mid-winter and then having to go outside for a smoke break. Thats where dedication to an addiction is really shown.
Canberra winter is better than Melbourne winter. Mainly because you know that its going to be cold so you can be prepared and its not quite as windy/rainy…. in saying that the only region I would live in for pure weather reasons is south east asia……. superb
Nik and Random,
Totally agreed. I could never find anything, apart from stuffing my hands up a polar bear, to keep them warm while riding on a Canberra morning in winter.
One thing though, it makes sure you don’t speed as your hands and knees and everything just get colder.
I hate hate hate winter too but I love tertiary education and getting a good job, so…
I came here from Orange, this is actually an improvement!
Nik – a lesson I’m rapidly learning – first winter as a bike rider, and I’m already wondering if maybe the whole thing wasn’t such a great idea after all 🙂
Blossy – if you don’t like winter, you picked a heck of a city to call home 🙂 Personally, I love Canberra winters (above comments about riding not withstanding), though when summer rolls around I’m rarely sorry to see it…
hooray, winter. I’ll be cranky until November now 🙁
Nik, we can put a man on the moon but we can’t make a pair of gloves to keep out the wind. An oft spoken malaise of bikies the nation over 😉
i love winter – have the fire going every night.
rip rip woodchip.
just turn the heater up
Try riding a motorbike to work at 1/4 to 6 in the morn! Bloody spanner weather I tell ye. I need thicker gloves/pants/jacket/neck warmer/boots.
A hit and a kick for being so quick!
Indeed, the sting is getting into the early morning air.
Where is your favourite Thai food in Canberra?
