1:30 pm: While the Canberra office of Senator Katy Gallagher was vandalised on Monday, it continues to remain open.
Police have previously said a man was arrested after the incident and will face court in July.
“Yesterday afternoon my electorate office in Woden was vandalised,” Senator Gallagher said.
“The office remains open and my team is continuing its work to support Canberrans.
“I want to thank my team, the officers from ACT Policing who responded to this incident and the officials in the Department of Finance who helped to secure the office so quickly following the incident.”
12 noon: A man accused of vandalising the office of ACT Senator Katy Gallagher will face court next month.
Police responded to reports of a property damage incident at her office on Corrina Street in Phillip at about 1:40 pm on Monday (26 June).
“A man was arrested at the scene shortly after the incident,” an ACT Policing spokesperson said.
“He has been charged with damaging commonwealth property and will face court in July.”
Senator Gallagher was contacted for comment.
