The Liberals’ Vicki Dunne is wondering aloud why submissions on the Loxton review for arts funding in the ACT are not being published:
“Yesterday, in the inquiry into the 2009-10 annual reports, Mr Stanhope’s departmental head told the committee that the submissions would not be released,” Mrs Dunne said. “He said the candidness of the views was such that the submissions should be kept confidential.
“The government received over 70 submissions in response to the report, prepared by consultants, Peter Loxton and Associates, but only the government will have the benefit of the views and the wisdom of the arts community.
“The rest of us can only speculate as to those submissions and whether they will be taken into account by ACT Labor. Comments made by people involved in a wide variety of arts activities have been quite critical of the report and its recommendations. The formal submissions that I have seen are equally critical.
So… submissions will only be released when they are not candid?
