Ask RiotACT

Hi friends, can anyone advise me on the expected cost of having some new taps installed/existing taps moved in my garden? The potential sites all have close access to existing water supply so there shouldn’t be much drama.

Also, do I need a plumber for this or could a landscaper or handyman do the job? Appreciate any advice.

Definitely need a licensed plumber to alter your water lines. Not using one could see you or your handyman with over a $1000 fine from ACTPLA.

If you where using Water Tight Canberra (my company) a ruff estimate on cost’s would be between $200 and $450, pending on how far you where running etc.

You could always save money by digging the required trenches your self, installing a post to mount the tap to and of course booking online 🙂

Are you also wanting to move the meter? Sometimes the tap and meter a co-located in an inconvenient place. I understand it is very expensive to have the meter moved.

Depends if you’re using poly or copper. Copper is more expensive & needs
A plumber if you have to make a few turns…
