Brumbies unchanged for the third week in a row

johnboy 25 February 2009 2

It’s time to shine for the Brumbies after two important, but unconvincing victories in the last two weeks.

Today they’ve announced that the starting 15 remains unchanged for the third week in a row.

Patrick Phibbs should consider himself very, very lucky.

So will you cheer or boo when Matt Giteau runs on this week?

When I hit the age of 35 and my career just starts to fully blossom, Matt Giteau will be most likely hanging up his boots. I don’t begrudge him anything for ensuring the financial wellbeing of himself and his family.

Club loyalty is an important thing and I respect the current Geelong Cats members who have forsaken larger salaries to stay at the club. However that loyalty should be expected to only go so far. It is only a few decades ago that ‘club loyalty’ was used by clubs to pay footy players of all codes a pittance. We see those players today that are old, disabled, and poor. I would not want to be one of them.

I wouldn’t single Giteau out for any booing that wasn’t part of a general Force directed spray.

I’ll be cheering that he’s returning to where he belongs. I won’t be cheering if he scores 20 points & guides the Force to a victory though. 🙂

& I don’t think the wins have been entirely unconvincing….a win in NZ is a win in NZ & a win over the Crusaders is…well, a win over the Crusaders. Both games they stuck it out, stuck it out, stuck it out & ended up getting over the line. They’ll be better off for the experience, that much is certain.
