There’s no question that the role child-care centres play in the lives of Australian families has become increasingly important.
As families get busier, work longer hours and have to juggle competing and ever-growing priorities in their home and professional lives, they need innovative, useful solutions to stay on top of it all.
In response, some forward-thinking child care services are stepping up to meet the challenge and lend a hand.
Artemis Early Learning in Fyshwick is a perfect example of such a service. Since opening in 2014, Artemis has steadily built a well-deserved reputation for providing care and education grounded on the principles of trust, security, support, and growth—and the families love it!
Artemis maintains a holistic approach to care and involve parents as much as possible. They understand the integral role parents play in all aspects of a child’s learning, development and well-being, and Artemis always aim to complement their efforts which has set them apart from other providers.
Most of us have now realised that quality child-care has become a critical element of many families’ ability to function day-to-day—and the good child-care centres have been able to respond to this need are going from strength-to-strength.
Rebecca Sleeman is the Centre Director at Artemis and knows what has driven the success of Artemis. “We appreciate how busy families are these days, and we wanted to minimise the inevitable stress and hassle associated with raising their children,” she said.
“When we started, we had the desire to create a place where parents were confident that they were leaving their children in good hands and I’m proud to be able to say we’ve achieved that!”
Artemis knows that it is doing something right because while many of Canberra’s child-care centres – both new and established – are struggling to maintain occupancy or are even suffering from declining enrolments, it has been the reverse for Artemis. Their occupancy continues to increase, largely due to the solid reputation they’ve built among families who have experienced the superior level of care they provide.
Now that’s definitely bucking the trend!
“We even have some families that travel from the other side of town to have their children here, purely because they know their children are getting the standard of care they want,” said Rebecca.
“We’ve successfully created an environment where the needs and priorities of the family are at the heart of everything we do and where every child can grow, learn and play in a safe, nurturing environment.
“Our meals are healthy, fresh and nutritious and parents are invited to be as involved as they want at the centre.
“We make active efforts to support our families as much as we can. We are even getting ready to introduce a takeaway food service next year. This lets our time-poor mums and dads feed the family with the same nutritious meals that we provide their children. We are fortunate to have a modern commercial kitchen that is larger and better equipped than any other child-care service in Canberra,” she said.
That’s right—they will even offer families the option to pre-order wholesome meals prepared fresh on-site so you don’t have to worry about what you’re going to cook after a long day at work!
Few child-care centres can claim they still support their families well after the children go home, but Artemis certainly can.
With a team that treats children with respect and kindness, a philosophy that places the needs of the family first, coupled with an acknowledged and growing reputation, Artemis Early Learning really is a place that’s bucking the trend in early childhood education and care in Canberra.
