Having some information that could be newsworthy I decided to look at the CT website to find out how I would go about providing this news to them.

I clicked about like a teenage boy at hustler.com but couldnt see anyway to submit anything.

Idiotically, the ‘Contact Us’ only offers

Unless you are a complete numpty you would imagine a ‘submit news’ link might come in handy on occasion.

I dont have a CT to hand, it not being sat or sun, but i assume they actually have an email address where canberrans can send their whinges to.

If anyone from ct or rural press is reading – my advice is: Lift your game before you become irrelevant.

Anyway, thanks go CT axed the horrendous ‘Have Your Say’ letters. Toward it’s end it was hijacked by personal attacks between extreme righties and extreme lefties. The occasional worthwhile readable comment was swamped within countless pointless ravings. (RA excluded pls note). Maybe a CT alternative would be in order.

They actually have hardly any actual journalists, so unless you actually wrote your news into an article for them, they probably couldn’t do anything with it. Although they do keep a permanent raft of work experience people, who might get to have a go.
But I wouldn’t count on it. There is plenty of real local news around that they must know about – such as the dragway, but they don’t bother to write about. The Chronicle has become a better bet for ‘community issues’ and that is just sad.

why would then want you to send them actual news ? then they might have to report it.

Too late. I fear that the Canberra Times became irrelevant the day Rural Press bought it and pushed aside old Jack.

(It’s such a pity Sammy isn’t here, by the way. We could have a good argument about CT’s ethics and standards right now).
