Shane Rattenbury has annoucned that SITA Australia has won the contract to handle our garbage:
A new contract has been awarded for the provision of domestic waste and recycling collection services in the ACT, Minister for Territory and Municipal Services, Shane Rattenbury, announced today.
“I’m pleased to announce that SITA Australia (SITA) has been awarded the contract to provide our waste and recycling collection services,” Mr Rattenbury said.
“The contract will commence 29 October 2013 and will run for the next 10 years. SITA will take over the regular collection of garbage and recycling bins from houses and apartments.
“SITA is a reputable company with in-depth knowledge of collection, transportation and waste processing gained through 40 years experience of waste management in Australia. They currently provide services to more than 56,000 commercial and industrial customers and more than 3.7 million residents each week across Australia.
“SITA currently holds contracts with the City of Brisbane, Penrith City Council, Campbelltown City Council and the St George Region of Council in southern Sydney.”
Mr Rattenbury said SITA was selected following an open market tender process and was chosen based on their value for money offer, technical capabilities and their overall capacity to provide services.
