Novotel Canberra has well and truly established itself as one of the region’s most child-friendly hotels, welcoming all families, especially those travelling with little ones. Proudly offering accommodation and breakfast for free for two children under the age of 16, as well as a wide range of meal deals with little people in mind within the hotel restaurants, making those family holidays a little less stressful.
Now, they have taken their child-friendly mantra to a whole new fun level with the launch of the monthly Kids High Tea within the stylish and intimate venue of their mezzanine restaurant First Edition Bar & Dining. The inaugural event launched on Monday, March 26, with First Edition Canberra partnering with local entertainment specialists Molly Coddle Parties to create a family-friendly event kicking off with an ‘Easter Extravaganza’. Not quite your conventional high tea, this event encourages parents to relax for two stress-free hours whilst the children are entertained with an array of interactive activities such as face painting, arts, crafts, music and dancing as well as the traditional but all-time favourite Easter Egg Hunt in celebration of the occasion. For those little ones needing a little extra downtime, there was even a cosy movie corner and teepee set up with books.

Parents are welcomed with a glass of bubbles on arrival and the morning is complete with a delicious high-tea-inspired menu created by Head Chef Jenni Tressler, with all the best childhood party foods. Continuing the First Edition food philosophy, Tressler makes the most of locally sourced fresh produce to create a shared style, help yourself grazing table combining bite-sized savouries and sweets for both big and little mouths to enjoy. Including Fairy Bread, a selection of Strawberry and Chocolate Lamingtons, Mini Party Pies, a Seasonal Fruit Platter as well as a selection of Boutique Cupcakes. Adults also had the option to indulge in ‘Canberra’s Tableland Tour Board’ with a selection of Tilba cheeses, a trio of Balzanelli meats including Speck, Cacciatore salami and Bresaola, Fedra Olive Grove Olives and Bush dukkah rounded off with Jasper and Myrtle rocky road chocolate.
Each uniquely themed monthly high tea style event will run from 11 am through to 1 pm. In addition to the entertainment and food, all children will leave with a unique creation of their very own, differing per event and theme.
