If you’ve never been into the IGA in the Civic bus interchange you might not realise they do a fair selection of takeaway food.
Most of the meals go for $5.50, they do a broad range of salads, hot pies, sausage rolls, and pastas.
I went for the beef roll and with a rice pudding as well it came un under $9.
Sounds great? Well the service is an issue. When I approached the sandwich counter there were two people already waiting. And no-one serving.
We stood, we waited, staff from other areas started shouting at each other until eventually the right person was shouted at and we got some service.
Then, having taken possession of your lunch you need to queue up and pay for it. When the teenage goth girl at the checkout has finished adjusting her piercings she may deign to let you do that.
As for the lunch? It’s a big roll. The sundried tomatoes are nice. Possibly a bit too much lettuce for my taste and some mustard or a better cheese would have made all the difference.
But at $5.50 you can’t buy the ingredients for less than this.
The rice pudding was pretty tasty.
