Clown workshop at the Street Theatre

By Barcham - 14 June 2013 8

Derek

Derek Scott is a talented man, and he will be running a 3 hour clowning workshop at the Street Theatre on July the 5th.

It sounds pretty amazing.

Derek Scott is an internationally acclaimed actor, clown, director, producer and teacher, who has performed around the world, including on Broadway and London’s West End.

He has performed and taught with such companies as Cirque du Soleil, Just For Laughs Comedy Festival, The Stratford Shakespearean Festival as well as plays the lead role in Slava’s Snow Show, Playing at the Canberra Theatre July 3-7.

In his 25 plus years in the business, Derek has developed this workshop which deals with one of the essence of all performance: rhythm. Through the understanding of rhythm you can develop your character, discover aspects of your clown, breakdown why things are funny, further build routines, and even understand how to construct a sketch or a play.

During his workshop he will work with each individual’s natural rhythms and develop them for their performances. Derek has taught this workshop for actors, dancers, clowns, circus artist, magicians and educators worldwide.

The workshop will be held at the Street Theatre, Childers St, Acton from 1-4pm on Friday July 5th

Registration is $50 per participant

Contact Ben Drysdale on 0410 356 209 or cardboardcharlie@gmail.com to register.

Pennywise is special though, as is Stephen King.

‘We all float down here.’

King didn’t make clowns creepy. He just cashed in on the creepiness.

Save yourself $50: just take a short walk across to the ANU Chancelry and you’ll be able to see plenty of clowns in action…….

Or my work place…

I thought they were all at the Women For Gillard launch. Or is that (yawn) “misogynist”?
