If you like your coffee or wine with a view, there’s a place in Braddon that can offer you stunning sunset views of Black Mountain or the sunrise over Mount Ainslie. It’s not a bar and it’s not a restaurant, although it is located close to plenty of boutique breweries and coffee shops. It’s the multipurpose Nibu building on Lonsdale Street and the stunning three-bedroom, two-bathroom townhouse at 27 Lonsdale Street on offer from McGrath Belconnen/Gungahlin.

The Nibu facade

Architects designed the Nibu facade using the triangular forms reminiscent of the pyramids of Egypt.

Nik Bulum, former head and founder of the Lonsdale Street Traders, said the initial influence for the architect was Egyptian, using pyramid forms to create the building’s facade, making for a unique appearance in the streetscape. Bulum is credited with changing the face of Braddon, from industrial zone to urban chic.

Nibu’s retail space on the ground floor hosts some unique businesses including Bitten Goodfoods, Kin Gallery and Koji Collection, and is within easy walking distance of Bentspoke Brewery, Sonoma Bakery and Gelato Messina. Living in an apartment in the Nibu building means easy access to everything the new Braddon precinct has to offer.

High quality fittings and finishes

Attention to detail and high-quality fittings and finishes add to the luxurious feel of the penthouse.

McGrath Agent Justin Taylor describes the property as ‘lush’, with the fittings and finishing of an exceptionally high standard.

“It’s so private,” he said. “You wouldn’t know you were living above such a busy street. And the first thing I’d do is have a barbeque on the balcony. There’s plenty of room and you can open the entire living space up for entertaining.”

Large balcony space

Large balcony space enables entertaining both indoors and out, with room for relaxing, or barbeques.

The living areas expand through double-glazed floor-to-ceiling doors which open onto the two balconies providing a cross breeze through the apartment, giving a feeling of direct connection to the bustle of shoppers and cafe dwellers below.

The living room

The living room opens onto the large balcony and features a bio-ethanol fireplace, adding to the ambience.

The fittings in the penthouse reflect attention to detail and quality.

The master bedroom has an en suite shower room, while a family bathroom boasts an ample full-size Parisi freestanding bath. The appliances are Miele, and the kitchen has a white marble benchtop island, connecting the kitchen to the family room, and beyond to the western balcony.

The kitchen

The kitchen features include a Miele induction cooktop, and a white marble island bench.

The penthouse is fitted with a European-style laundry with Bosch appliances. Hardwood floors feature throughout the apartment.

There’s a peaceful atmosphere inside the apartment which can be attributed to the double glazed windows which make noise from the busy street below undetectable. Ducted and zoned reverse-cycle heating and cooling, and a bio-ethanol fireplace in the living room add to the peaceful ambience.

Parking is easy, with secure parking and storage underground and an option to rent a second car space.
