Perhaps a backyard bacchanalia of some sort?

No Merry Muse or Folkus Room this weekend as many of Canberra’s folk community relocates to Majors Creek for the duration: http://www.musicatthecreek.com — Culturazi readers can win two season passes valued at $140. Acts include locals The Ellis Collective, Fred Smith, Mr Fibby, DJ and the Karismakatz and the Ya-Yas, and from further afield, the sensational Ange Takats, the multi-instrumental Chris Aronsten, the vocally deft Triantan, and the ‘rip the stage up’ energy of The Go Set. Oh, and ex-local Vorn Doolette is dropping in for a warble. A top weekend.

Monday night: Trivia in the Trams at the Tra dies at Dickson enters its fourteenth week in quasi-residency. Free to join in, cash and voucher prizes. 7pm rego, 7.30pm kick-off, 9.30pm all over. Next week’s special subject as voted by this week’s winning team: South American countries.

manuka’s not that great for the tween girls, try maybe the city instead? theres a lot more teen oriented stores (chain stores that is) plus the dendy cinemas and plenty of coffee stops. the mothers would be ok in manuka though. its closer to the AWM too.
i def second the cotter idea though.

This Sunday there is a cruise for charity (cars motorbikes, horse-and-carriage, whatever you want) to raise money for the new born intensive care unit.

Meeting point is the carpark of Phillip Ice Skating rink, then drive (well, ‘cruise’) out to the Cotter for a big BBQ.

Have a look at the facebook page linked for details and more info – looks like a great cause and probably a pretty good time too.

Anyone have any ideas how to keep four boys under the age of ten, and two tween girls (all interstate family, I have no children) entertained in Canberra for the weekend?

Otherwise we can just set the girls loose on Manuka with their mothers, and send the boys to the War Memorial.

Pack them off to the National Science Centre, lots of interesting stuff there for kidlets to do, then maybe the museum and the AWM or Cockinton Green and the Dinosaur Park.
