Double Shopping Trolley in Canberra? Where?

By Piratepete - 16 October 2012 10

Hello Rioters, I was hoping for some help. I am trying to find out which supermarkets on the South side of town have the trolleys where two toddlers can sit side by side up the top.

Not the baby capsule we are past that stage but would like to be able to fit some groceries in the trolley instead of having one child sitting in there!

Thanks

Coles Curtin has them although I have had to talk to management a couple of times to have the trolleys in a location that was easy for parents with two toddlers to get them out. Not easy to wrangle toddlers and 10 trolleys to get the one you want.

Piratepete, have you asked at any of the places you thought you’d seen them? Perhaps because of accessibility difficulties they have them kept somewhere seperate to the regular trolleys and you have to request it, I don’t know, just a thought. Or if they don’t have them any more (I’m sure they use to) they’ll know there’s a demand for them.

Car doors have locks for a reason

Thanks everyone. I know Costco have huge ones, but I had seen them at a couple of local shops when we were still at the capsule stage and now I can’t find them anywhere.

Coles Curtin is nearby so will head over there to check it out. I could’ve sworn I had seen them at Woolies and Coles Tuggeranong but have not seen them again. Who ever has them will get my business!

My older child could walk but I would prefer he didn’t if you know what I mean! and if he walks then my other child wants to too and then all hell breaks loose 🙂

yea I know some used to be around like forever ago but not any more, or ask around at the service desks???

or if they wanna walk have you thought about those backpack lead/walker thingys?

I just used to leave the most annoying one at home.

Just a suggestion if a larger trolley can’t be found; if they are still small enough to carry on your back, make it a contest of good behaviour for who gets to ride in the trolley. (Or on your back, if that’s their favourite. Either one begging for lollies and it’s into the less favoured thing.) When I read about problems like this I am quite glad I only had to ‘deal with’ one. That’s hard enough!

Woolies used to have these, many moons ago.

Costco is about the only one I can think of that has trolleys big enough to have the 2 seats next to each other.

+1

In fact have only just had the pleasure of needing the ones with the toddler on the right and the baby on the left.

Tend to find the toddler more interested in either being carried, or walking and picking colorful things off the shelves and put them covertly in the trolley to surprise mummy and daddy when they get to the checkout anyway….
