Duffy fire puts mother and children in hospital and kills dogs

A mother and her four young children have been taken to hospital and two pet dogs have died after a fire tore through a Duffy home this morning.

As temperatures climbed towards 40 degrees, emergency services rushed to a home on Tantagara Street, Duffy after reports of a house fire around 11:30 am.

According to the ESA, three pumpers, two commanders, a breathing apparatus and a Hazmat vehicle attended the scene.

The fire is believed to have started in the kitchen.

ACT Ambulance Service assessed and transported one adult and her four children to Canberra Hospital for minor smoke inhalation.
