E-scooter rider in critical condition after collision

An electric scooter rider is fighting for her life in Canberra Hospital after colliding with a station wagon in Kambah this afternoon.

Police said the accident occurred about 3 pm at the intersection of Drakeford Drive and O’Halloran Circuit, near Namadgi School.

The 19-year-old woman was crossing Drakeford Drive when the collision occurred in the northbound lanes.

Police are still investigating the circumstances of the accident but the woman sustained critical injuries.

The E-scooter is not thought to be one of the official hire scooters.

Traffic was diverted to avoid the scene with police closing the northbound lanes of Drakeford Drive between O’Halloran Circuit and Athllon Drive for several hours.
