Flocking the banks of the easy-flowing Molonglo River, the stunning Pialligo Estate winery and farm is the ideal destination to spend a relaxing Easter day with your family or friends this year. As one of Canberra’s most beautiful destinations, Pialligo Estate perfectly captures the essence of Easter – a haven of spring rebirth with lush green farmland and rolling hills in the distance, all teeming with local wildlife. The aesthetics of the property’s natural features are only heightened by the manmade ones, with the architecture of the buildings and outhouses blending into the surrounding scenery. The interiors are either warm and cosy or designed to bring the outdoors indoors, so no matter where you choose to stroll, dine or relax, you’ll experience a wonderful atmosphere and a view to remember.

Of course, most people visit wineries for much more than the view, and thankfully, the amazing wines and delicious foods available at Pialligo Estate are just as commanding as the scenery! The kitchen is stocked daily with fresh ingredients from the Estate’s very own market garden, orchard, olive grove and smoke house, as well as a number of local goodies from nearby farmers and artisan producers. The wines on offer are simply divine, with a number of award-winning varietals that perfectly complement the dishes on offer.

For those hoping to indulge themselves this Easter, the friendly staff at the Estate have carefully curated their best dishes and wines to create their 2018 Easter lunch menu. This leisurely three-course (or two-course for kids) meal will leave you giving thanks for every last bite.

The first course consists of a choice of either succulent kingfish ceviche with apple and compressed pear, or pressed pork cheek with celeriac and house pickles, or Estate grown heritage tomatoes with figs, marinated goats curd and crisp pepitas. The second course consists of slow-cooked Moroccan spiced lamb rump with yoghurt, carrots and quince, or barley miso with Mount Cook alpine salmon, spicy pickled onion and greens, or a tasty risotto of mixed mushrooms with garden leeks, fine herbs and aged parmesan. Finally, the third course – dessert – is a choice of either orange creme caramel with raspberry crumble, or a delicious warm chocolate tart drizzled in Meander Valley dairy clotted cream, or an Eton mess made with fresh fruits from the Pialligo Estate orchard and accompanied by passionfruit and crisp meringue.

The children’s menu (two course) offers a choice of handmade pasta with Wagyu bolognaise, or battered flathead with thick-cut chips, or fried chicken sliders with coleslaw and mayo for the first course. The second course offers either vanilla and chocolate ice-cream with a selection of fresh berries, or sticky-date pudding with caramel sauce and ice-cream, or a light and fluffy chocolate mousse with crisp meringue. This special Easter lunch menu will be served in a beautiful Glasshouse room, which offers stunning views across the Estate in a sheltered position.
