A gadget salesperson finds a special Christmas gift for his son Billy (Zach Galligan) at a mysterious shop in Chinatown.
The shopkeeper only sells him the ‘mogwai’ if he agrees to follow three simple rules. But when those rules are inevitably broken, the unusual gift brings chaos to Billy’s idyllic American small town.
