Meet our lovable pets of the week looking for forever homes at the RSPCA ACT Shelter!
Boof and Taco are this week’s friendly Pets of the Week! These lovely animals are waiting to find their perfect match. Think that could be you? Read more about them below!
Dog of the Week: Boof
This big German Shepherd boy is a joy. He’s about 20 months old – still young for a dog and super intelligent.
Owners of this breed know their smarts, loyalty and eagerness to please is in-built. When we take Boof into the dog yard, he’s a joy; he sprints after one toy and hands it back; he can’t wait for you to launch it again so he can retrieve it.
You’ll feel the love from this boy, especially if you’re up for a morning walk, a bit of fetch in the afternoons and some snuggle time in the evenings.
Boof already follows commands like sit and drop and more. He’s a massive softie who needs to be the only dog in the house. Can he be your dog? You won’t be sorry.
Cat of the Week: Taco
Thanks to all Canberrans who’ve helped and are still helping us navigate kitten season. We’re busier than ever with scores of cats arriving each day, but each one will eventually find a safe, forever home.
Taco is like that – this is the cat who currently utilises our outdoor cat area the most. He kind of greets you when you arrive at the shelter.
He loves playing with toys and exploring new areas, and he’s really easy to entertain. Honestly, a piece of string tied to a plastic cup will have this guy thinking, “OMGaaaahd this is the best day evveeeer!!”
His handsome markings make him a desirable cat, too. However, be aware that he wants to be (and thinks he is) the king of the castle. He probably won’t want to share your house (aka his castle) with another feline.
Once adopted, Taco will take a few days to settle in, and once he does, you’ll have the coolest cat in the neighbourhood. Come and meet him!
Pawnotes: Welcome to 2025, and happy new year! If you see a pet you think a friend or family member might be interested in here, please share the article with them. One chat about what you’ve read could lead to an adoption and change the lives of animals and people for the better.
Visit RSPCA ACT today at 12 Kirkpatrick St, Weston, and add a new companion to your life. You won’t regret it!
